On 27 July, United States Secretary of Defense Lloyd J.
Austin III and Singapore Minister for Defence Dr Ng Eng Hen met at the Ministry of Defence during Secretary Austin’s introductory visit to Singapore.
Secretary Austin and Dr Ng reaffirmed both countries’ long-standing and multi-faceted bilateral defense relationship, which was most recently underscored by the signing of the 2019 Protocol of Amendment renewing the 1990 Memorandum of Understanding(MOU) Regarding United States Use of Facilities in Singapore and the signing of the MOU concerning the establishment of a Republic of Singapore Air Force Fighter Training Detachment in Guam. ....

Singapore On Friday (Jul 9), Singapore delivered medical supplies and equipment over to neighbouring country Indonesia to assist it in the fight against the coronavirus.
Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr Vivian Balakrishnan handed over medical equipment and supplies to Indonesian ambassador Suryo Pratomo with a few of his colleagues from the Ministry of Defence, Singapore (Mindef).

Next-gen missile system boosts air defence network

The Republic of Singapore Air Force s (RSAF) next-generation Aster 30 missile system that is designed to neutralise air threats at longer ranges has been conducting round-the-clock operations since August.
The ground-based system has also been integrated into the RSAF s networked Island Air Defence System, which can now counter a range of threats from fighter jets to unmanned aerial vehicles to precision-guided munitions.
Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen said the air defence system s current capabilities marked a significant milestone since it was first developed about 15 years ago.
The transformation is on a number of fronts, said Dr Ng, after witnessing an Aster 30 deployment drill at Lim Chu Kang Camp II yesterday. ....
