New Delhi: The Centre has not taken any decision on the roll-out of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) for the whole country, the Ministry of Home Affairs has told a parliamentary panel.
It has been clarified at various levels in government time and again that till now no decision has been taken to create National Register of Indian citizen, the ministry told the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Home Affairs headed by Congress leader Anand Sharma, according to a report tabled in Parliament on Tuesday. ....

Guwahati, Feb 01: The Congress on Saturday alleged that the ruling BJP has been working overtime to destroy the social fabric of Assam. The saffron party during the past five years of its rule in the state has continuously used communal divide as a tool to polarise the voters of the state, AICC spokesperson Gourav Vallabh told a press conference here.
Assam is the land of Vaishnav saint Srimanta Sankardeva who propagated an inclusive society, but BJP has been working overtime to destroy the social fabric of Assam , he said. BJP has been boasting of close co-ordination between the central and the state governments over the development efforts in Assam but the reality is completely different, the Congress leader claimed. ....

GUWAHATI: The present BJP-led coalition government in Assam has failed in several sectors. There is a complete mismanagement in the State. Assam now ranks at the second or third position from below in various parameters of performances set by the Centre. This was stated by Prof. Gourav Vallabh, AICC spokesperson while addressing the media in Rajiv Bhawan here on Saturday.
Buttressing his claims, the Congress leader alleged, What has happened to the BJP s vision document. It was full of promises; but the leaders failed to fulfil them. Their leaders have resorted to lies and deceit to whitewash their actions of misgovernance and paint a fair picture of their inactions. ....
