Updated 3/15/2021 11:11 AM Getting your outdoor space ready for the growing season is an annual task that is best started in mid-March through early April. Like with many other things, preparation is key to success in landscaping, as well. By preparing lawns and garden beds now, you can have lush and thriving surroundings in spring and summer. Bob Bertog, president of Bertog Landscape Company, Wheeling, offers his tips on spring landscape preparation:
• Survey your surroundings. Winter, especially the snowy and stormy one we had, can leave a mark. Check the landscape and remove debris, including stray leaves and branches as well as blown-in garbage and leftover toys or tools from last year. Look for damage or cracks in patios, sidewalks, containers and other landscape features. ....
Updated 3/12/2021 9:47 AM Saint Viator High School in Arlington Heights was one of the few schools in the area to commit to full-time in-person learning this year, and March 11 marks 100 days of students being in the classroom. With the exception of two brief eLearning periods caused by rising COVID-19 cases, and the proactive transition to eLearning during the weeks before and after Christmas break, students have been attending classes at the school since the start of the school year. We have been able to remain in the classroom thanks to the commitment of our faculty, staff and administration to in-person learning, said Saint Viator Principal Karen Love. They have been working hard to adopt safe protocols and develop creative solutions that allow students to experience a school year consistent with the rigorous academic standards for which Saint Viator is known. ....
