Blackburn: Fines cancelled after Barbara Castle Health Centre staff hit with parking penalties

Fines: Staff had been hit by penalties despite holding Covid-19 passes while parked on Duke Street carpark
COUNCIL officials have had to cancel parking fines which were given to NHS workers, despite them holding government issued Covid-19 parking passes.
The staff at Barbara Castle Way Health Centre, Blackburn, say that as many as 22 of their colleagues, 11 of them nurses, finished their shifts over the last week only to find they had been issued with the fines after parking in Duke Street.
They were hit by the penalties after a government scheme, which was originally supposed to last throughout the pandemic crisis, had come to an end on June 20 without the health centre property manager, the practice managers and most of the other staff having been told. ....
