Bridge in Lake Macquarie finally getting makeover

After several delays, finally the Freemans Drive Bridge at Cooranbong will be getting a makeover. 
It’s a $1.3 million project to get the Lake Macquarie bridge up to standard and work is already underway.
The improvement works involve strengthening the superstructure and deck of the bridge, which support the roadway, to increase the load capacity of the bridge and ensure longevity of the structure.
Lake Macquarie City Council’s Asset Manager Helen Plummer said safety is the number one priority for Council and regular inspections are carried out to ensure bridges across the city remain safe at all times. ....

It’s the end of an era with the last timber road bridge in the Rockhampton region upgraded, thanks to funding from the Federal Liberal and Nationals Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Infrastructure, Transport and Regional Development Barnaby Joyce said it was great to see such an achievement as a result of Round 4 funding from the program.
“The last remaining timber bridge in the region, on Glenroy Road over Louisa Creek, saw the conclusion of an upgrade project more than 13 years in the making,” the Deputy Prime Minister said. ....

A one-lane timber bridge on the boundary of the City of Logan and the Scenic Rim is set to make way for a higher more flood-resistant structure.
Teese Bridge, at Veresdale Scrub, will be replaced with a two-lane concrete crossing that will provide a more reliable connection for motorists.
The Australian Government has committed $700,000 under the Bridges Renewal Program to this $1.7 million project, with the remainder jointly funded by the Logan City Council and Scenic Rim Regional Council.
The works will be carried out by contractor McIlwain Civil Engineering and anticipated to take about five months. ....

Three new bridges and one causeway earmarked for Byron Shire
Byron Shire Council is replacing three bridges and one causeway as part of the NSW Government’s Fixing Country Bridges Program and the Federal Government’s Bridges Renewal Program.
Upper Main Arm Bridge at Upper Main Arm, Sherrington’s Bridge at The Pocket and Englishes Bridge at Upper Coopers Creek are timber bridges that are in poor condition and $1.57 million from the Fixing Country Bridges Program will allow for the replacement of all three.
“With the exception of the refurbished South Arm Bridge at Brunswick Heads, these are the last timber bridges in the Byron Shire,” Council’s Road and Bridge Engineer, Josh Provis, said. ....

Town's footbridge restored with 'ribs' from sister village

The South Arm Bridge at Brunswick Heads has officially opened, following a major timber restoration.
The project included an extensive list of works, that included posting of all 24 bridge piles using recycle girders from Council s Bangalow Bridges Replacement Project.
It also included high-strength fibreglass wrapping of every pile and replacement of half the girders, where all new girders were recycled from Bangalow s Five Bridges Project.
The job included replacement of half of the corbels, recycled from the Bangalow Five Bridges Project as well.
80 per cent of headstocks were replaced with new milled hardwood, while 100 per cent of the deck will be replaced by new milled hardwood. ....
