State and county caution on burning right now
On March 8, Gov. Laura Kelly issued a State of Disaster Emergency due to a high risk of wildland fires and red flag warnings. On Monday afternoon, at their regular weekly meeting, the Marion County Commissioner Board extended that state of emergency into the county based on the recommendation of Emergency Preparedness Director Randy Frank.
Frank has also sent out several press releases banning burns at this time due to the high danger of wildland fires. He asks everyone to be extremely cautious.
The board also heard from other department heads during the administrative portion of the meeting. ....

County road work progressing as weather warms up
Marion County Commission Board Chairman Randy Dallke had good things to say to Road and Bridge County Engineer Brice Goebel during the regular Monday meeting on March 7. He praised Goebel for roadwork that had been done by the Road and Bridge Department.
“You could tell your guys had gotten in there and done some work. It looked like you got it done with a backhoe. I heard good things about it, and it just looked real nice,” Dallke said.
“Yeah, we are going to get in on 60th and Nighthawk and get that project done ourselves now that the weather has gotten nice,” Goebel said. ....
