Tuesday was the strangest day I’ve had on a racecourse. Nothing could replace the Cheltenham crowd and atmosphere, but my goodness Rachael Blackmore gave it a proper go. It’s no secret that racing was desperate for an inspiring, positive story and she absolutely delivered.
Cheltenham on Champion Hurdle Day is normally a cauldron of noise and excitement but it was a ghost town, and it needed something extra special to light up the day. We got it all right with the sensational win from Rachael and Honeysuckle, making history. It was a great shame there wasn’t a crowd there to salute this brilliant female duo, but it felt like those lucky enough to ....

Stakes are high for Envoi Allen - CityAM : CityAM

Stakes are high for Envoi Allen
To everyone who has successfully hurdled their way over the first two days of Cheltenham with their wallets intact, that is a commendable effort. After the first day, it was a winning draw for the bookmakers. After Wednesday, the balance is marginally in our favour again.
Despite Monkfish doing his best to make his odds of 1/4 look like the least value ‘good thing’ of all time, he was the only favourite to win on the day. Chacun Pour Soi, in the same Rich Ricci colours, was turned over by Put The Kettle On, while JP McManus’ Easysland had to bow to the champ and dual-Grand National winner Tiger Roll. ....

The Ballymore Novices’ Hurdle (13.20) kick starts the action, but the first race with local interest comes in the form of
Dickie Diver, who runs in the Brown Advisory Novices’ Chase (13.55) for Seven Barrows trainer Nicky Henderson.
On his chances for the race, Henderson said: “He s only had one run and he has a lot on his plate, but he s got to go somewhere and he s a good horse too. He will like the ground, that s for sure.” ....
