CLEVELAND At Positive Education Program, one of Ohio’s largest nonprofit agencies committed to children, the young people we work with have unimaginable stories. They have faced countless traumas in their young lives. They struggle with significant mental health diagnoses, too often with little or no support.
When kids in these situations don’t receive help, they often face yet another trauma family separation. That’s exactly what happened to one child, whom we’ll call Mara, before our program, PEP Connections, was involved. ....

Parents advocate for more funding into multi-system youth programs in 2019. Ohio has started the OhioRISE program to meet the needs of those with serious mental health and behavioral health issues.
Ohio is launching a new program aimed at coordinating care for kids with complex mental and behavioral health issues. It s part of a plan to keep families intact while seeking treatment.
Children, teenagers, and young adults with severe mental health issues can often bounce from one agency or provider to another for the care they need. This is known as multi-system youth.
In some cases, parents have had to relinquish custody to qualify for funds needed for care or they had to send their children to a congregate care setting, like a group home. ....

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio Department of Medicaid chose Aetna Better Health to manage the care of children with complex behavioral health needs in a new program called OhioRISE, Gov. Mike DeWine announced Monday.
When fully implemented, Aetna will get $900 million a year to manage the care of around 60,000 children in OhioRISE from a combination of state and federal money, an Ohio Medicaid spokeswoman said. ....
