City, Jemez Match Wits on Light Ownership


    City of Española and Jemez Mountains Electric Cooperative are still trying to figure out who exactly owns which street lights in the city.
    Española City Manager Xavier Martinez said the two organizations met Feb. 12. The goal was to address issues with billing and establish who owns which light poles.
    “All this needs to be nailed down and figured out because there’s some issue with the billing,” Martinez said. “We don’t know what exactly the city is being billed for, we want to get a solid breakdown on that.”
    The Co-op provides maintenance on streetlights in Española and then bills the city for the lights it owns. ....

Texas company gets three decade lease for hangars at Cavern City Air Terminal

A Texas company was awarded a long-term lease to construct a hangar and an access road at the Cavern City Air Terminal south of Carlsbad.
Tuesday night, Carlsbad City Councilors approved a 30-year agreement with BMB Equipment Holding. The City of Carlsbad and the company signed a five-year agreement in 2014 for two hangars, according to a City Council document.

The lease agreement between BMB and the City of Carlsbad expired in December of last year, the document indicated.

“They would like to continue that lease and increase their footprint for some additional ground space and put in an access road to their property,” said City Administrator John Lowe. ....
