There are coastal storms and there are nor easters, but for a week in February 1969, one snowfall shattered records in the Granite State.
A strong nor easter stalled off the New England coastline for three and a half days, bringing a total of 98 inches of snow to Mount Washington and 77 inches to Pinkham Notch.Sign up for our Newsletters
On Feb. 25, 1969, more than 49 inches of snow fell, making it the snowiest 24 hours on record atop the rockpile. It’s also the snowiest 24-hour period on record in all of New Hampshire, topping a 48-inch, one-day snowfall in Danbury in December 2020. ....
