Lora Smith has been selected as the new Executive Director of the Greater Wabash Regional Planning Commission, which serves Crawford, Edwards, Lawrence, Richland, Wabash, Wayne, and White counties. Smith will be responsible for the management of all planning and administrative tasks for the Commission, and she comes to it with experience in grants and higher education. The Fairfield PaintOut is accepting up to 10 photos per person of county scenery for this fall’s PaintOut. Artists will choose one photo to recreate in a painting that will be available at the art show and sale in October, and any photographer with a photo chosen will receive $20 in Chamber Bucks, with a limit of three per person. The City of Fairfield and Wayne-White Electric Cooperative have reached an agreement on an Electric Operations and Maintenance Contract. The two entities say, beginning January 1, 2022, the co-op will provide all new construction, system improvements, and maintenance on the City’s electric system, and it will also send and collect the electric bill. The agreement is dependent upon Hoosier Energy purchasing the 138 KV and 69 KV transmission systems, and the City Council intends to discuss and vote on the contract at its meeting this coming Tuesday. 35-year-old Fairfield resident Jeremy M.T. Ralston was sentenced yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court. He pleaded guilty last March to a Class 2 felony count of delivery of less than five grams of meth, and he was sentenced to two years probation, plus time served. Several other cases against him were dismissed per his plea, and Ralston was ordered to pay $4,911 in fines and court costs, including $1,000 in restitution to Gerald ....
The Hamilton County Health Department will hold a drive-through vaccination clinic tomorrow from 9 to noon at the McLeansboro Fire Department. The department will use the gravel parking lot by the tennis courts at the Hamilton County High School as a staging area, and people should go to that location for lineup. Like last week, this is a first-come, first-serve event, and no reservations can be made. 27-year-old Xenia resident Dakota S. Morgan was sentenced to three years in prison yesterday in Wayne County Circuit Court by Judge Michael Molt, though the sentence was stayed until May 4 th. He admitted in August to violating his probation for a count of possession of meth. Morgan was credited with 113 days served in jail, and two other cases against him were dismissed. He was also ordered to pay $1,374 in fines and court costs. ....
