Aspen School District ditching quarantines, still deciding on mask policy

Jazz Aspen releases single-day pass for June Experience

Jazz Aspen Snowmass will release singe-day passes for the JAS June Experience on Friday, following its announcement of COVID-19 protocols earlier this week, which allowed producers to add capacity.
Passes go on-sale at 9 a.m. Friday and include performances at Belly Up Aspen, Wheeler Opera House and the Hotel Jerome.
A pass for June 25 ($150) includes Betty Lavette at the Wheeler, The Motet at Belly Up and Dumpstaphunk, George Porter, Jr. and Jon Cleary at the Hotel Jerome.
The pass for June 26 ($125) includes Ulysses Owen Jr. at the Wheeler; Dumpstaphunk, George Porter Jr. and Jon Cleary at Belly Up, and Sammy Miller & the Congregation at the Jerome. ....

Jazz Aspen announces COVID-19 guidelines for June Experience, JAS Cafe

Jazz Aspen Snowmass will require that all attendees at the JAS June Experience and JAS Café concerts be either fully vaccinated against the novel coronavirus or provide proof of a current negative test, the nonprofit announced Tuesday.
Following recent recommendations by Pitkin County and mirroring the policy adopted by Belly Up Aspen, Jazz Aspen will devote at least 80% of venue capacity to fully vaccinated concert-goers and 20% to those with negative tests.
“This policy is intended to provide the safest possible environment and most normal concert experience possible for artists, audiences and staff,” reads the announcement.
As a result of the new policy, which will note require masks or distancing, capacity will be significantly increased for both the June Experience (June 24-27) and the JAS Café series (June 18-Aug. 15). Ticket updates are expected to follow soon. ....

As Latino vaccinations lag in the region, activists push for systemic change

Eagle County, which has the largest Latino population among the three counties making up the Roaring Fork Valley and surrounding environs, 60% of white people have received one dose, compared with 15% of Latinos, who make up 29.6% of Eagle’s population. Jazz Aspen to host full JAS Café season, in-person June Experience

The nonprofit and festival producer is expected to announce details to the public Monday.
The June event would be the first major in-person festival in Aspen since the novel coronavirus pandemic hit Colorado. Jazz Aspen did host a truncated JAS Café series last summer but with severely limited capacity in keeping with public health restrictions.
Capacity is still expected to be limited at the June Experience, which is spread across eight small venues in downtown Aspen a format that debuted in 2019. Crowds are expected to be limited to 50 to 100 people depending on the venue.
“We are closely monitoring the evolving health guidelines and protocols emerging in our industry both nationally and internationally,” Jazz Aspen president and CEO Jim Horowitz said in the announcement. “We are confident that we will be able to safely manage the crowds at all our smaller venues hosting JAS June and summer JAS Café performances.
