WHO IS ABUBAKAR BUKOLA SARAKI?
He was born in 1962 to the family of former Senate Leader Olusola Saraki and Florence Saraki. Dr Abubakar Bukola Saraki is a medical doctor and Nigerian politician and is presently the Chairman and Founder of the Abubakar Bukola Saraki Foundation.
Dr Saraki attended King’s College, Lagos from 1973 to 1978 and then Cheltenham College in the United Kingdom from 1979 to 1981, he obtained his M.B.B.S(London) from the London Hospital Medical College of the University of London from 1982 to 1987. He worked in the United Kingdom in a number or hospitals in London, and surrounding counties for two years before returning to Nigeria to commence a career in that spans over two decades. ....

Africa: IFJ and FAJ join African leaders to launch new journalists safety initiative
The International Federation of Journalists and Federation of African Journalists will join the leaders of the African Union, UNESCO, editors from across the continent and media freedom campaigners to launch a new digital platform to protect and promote the safety of journalists in Africa on 29 January.
African Union Chairperson H.E President Cyril Ramaphosa will officiate the launch.
The IFJ and FAJ worked with the UNESCO Addis Office, The African Editors Forum (TAEF), AU Africa Peer Review Mechanism (APRM) and Article 19 to create the Digital Platform for the Safety of Journalists in Africa. The aim of this platform is to improve the protection of journalists, address threats and violence, create early warning mechanisms and improve the response from African states in protecting journalists and media freedom. ....

Nigeria committed to good governance in Africa, Buhari insists

President Muhammadu Buhari Monday in Abuja restated the commitment of the Nigerian government to the enthronement of democracy and good governance in the African continent.
Speaking at the Virtual Support Mission and Signing of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Committee of Heads of State and Government participating in the African Peer Review Mechanism (APR Forum) and the Federal Republic of Nigeria on the on-going Second Peer Review Process, President Buhari stated:
“As you are aware, the Government of Nigeria has consistently supported the strengthening of democracy and good governance throughout the African continent, including under the umbrella of the African Peer Review Mechanism. We remain fully committed to promoting the good governance practice enshrined in the ideals and vision of the New Partnership for Africa’s Development which gave birth to this review mechanism. ....
