ORANGE, Texas Vaccine hubs are downsizing their operations as the demand decreases, but health and county leaders said the renewed spread is sparking major concerns for them.
Orange County got its first confirmed case of the highly contagious Delta variant Wednesday. The person is not hospitalized but is being treated at Houston Methodist.
At health departments across Southeast Texas, there is a trend that raises cause for concern.
My concern comes from the low vaccination rate and the number of people who have not been vaccinated. I m very, very concerned, said Beaumont Public Health Director Kenneth Coleman. ....

Beaumont Public Health Department reports uptick in COVID cases

BEAUMONT, Texas On Friday, Beaumont s Public Health Department released its first daily COVID number report since April 1.
Beaumont saw 11 new positive cases Thursday, July 8. Beaumont Public Health director Kenneth Coleman attributes the uptick to a lack of residents being vaccinated.
Officials also mentioned growing concern with the more contagious Delta variant being identified throughout parts of Texas.
Jefferson County currently has 38 percent of eligible residents fully vaccinated.
“It is a huge concern,” Coleman said. “That outbreak in Galveston goes to show you, that we are not at the point where we can have more than 400 people together at a church camp.” ....

BEAUMONT, Texas Texas state officials announced this weekend that mass coronavirus vaccination hubs have been given the green light in Southeast Texas.
Jasper and Newton Counties have been grouped together as one site, and Chambers County and Jefferson County were also approved to move forward.
After weeks of watching larger cities across the state host mass vaccinations, Southeast Texas now has the opportunity to do what county leaders have been looking for open up a vaccine hub. ....

BEAUMONT, Texas Major metropolitan areas across Texas now have access to something our region is missing. Mass COVID-19 vaccination hubs are set up across the state, but Southeast Texas is left off the list.

Southeast Texas leaders received news Monday night that the state would mandate a rollback of relaxed COVID-19 restrictions after state data showed the region had more than 15% of its available hospital resources in use for patients infected by the virus for the seventh day in a row.
The Texas Department of State Health Services has been tracking numbers for each of the Trauma Service Areas (TSA) groupings of counties that share health care resources or rely on each other during events like the pandemic and has designated regions that meet the sustained 15% threshold as “high hospitalization areas.” ....
