KPD officer from officer involved shooting is Army veteran

The Killeen Police Department officer who shot and killed Patrick Warren Sr. during a psychiatric call on Jan. 10 is a decorated military veteran who served 16 years in the Army, including a pair of deployments, Army officials verified this week.
The police officer, Reynaldo Contreras, worked as a Patriot Launching Station operator and Avenger crewmember during his time in the Army, from 1999 to 2015. He left the Army as a sergeant first class and deployed to Kuwait from November 2011 to October 2012 and to Iraq from September 2003 to May 2004, according to the Army.
He served at Fort Hood between March 2009 and July 2015.
Contreras, a five-year veteran of KPD, is on administrative leave while KPD detectives and the Texas Rangers investigate the case, which is normal protocol for officer involved shootings. ....

'He was a lovely, lovely man': Farewell John McNeill

The late John Joseph McNeill OAM was an old-fashioned romantic, dedicated grandfather and a champion of the Habana community.
He passed away on November 14, aged 74, from jaundice and gall stones which had developed in his kidney and liver.
His surviving wife Joyce McNeill said she met the Mackay local during his three-year posting to England in 1971 after he had served in the Vietnam War.
He was an instructor with RAEME (Royal Corps of Australian Electrical and Mechanical Engineers), Mrs McNeill said.

The Commander of the 7th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Col. John W. Sannes, released the following statement expressing his condolences with Service Members and Families of the 7th SFG(A),
“On December 12, 2020 Sgt. 1st Class Levi A. Presley, from 3rd Battalion, died in Fort Walton Beach, Florida due to unforeseen medical complications. With this tragic event, Levi leaves behind his spouse and 6 children. Levi was a great Soldier and hero, both to his family at home and to his 7th Group Family. We, as an organization, are proud to have served with him and he will truly be missed. Please keep his wife Erin, and his children in your thoughts and prayers while they navigate this difficult time.
