New Brunswick health officials are reporting a person in the province has died due to blood clotting from the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine, but still recommending its use.
This is the second case of blood clotting from the AstraZeneca vaccine in the province, but the first death from the resulting Thrombosis-thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS).
New Brunswick Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Jennifer Russell started Wednesday s media conference by extending her condolences to the family of the deceased, who she said was in their 60s.
Your loss is deeply felt by all of your fellow New Brunswickers, said Russell.
Russell said the person was given a dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine in mid-April, and developed symptoms of TTS seven days after immunization. ....

New Brunswick reports five new COVID-19 cases Sunday, potential exposure notification

Health officials in New Brunswick are reporting five new COVID-19 cases Sunday, as the province’s active total rises to 37.
One case is in the Moncton region (zone one) and involves someone under 19. That case is related to travel.
The second case is in the Fredericton region (zone three) and involves someone in their 30s, which is also travel related.
The other three cases are in the Edmundston region (zone four), involving one in their 50s and two in their 60s. All three are under investigation.
EXPOSURE NOTIFICATION
Sunday’s announcement came with an exposure notification involving two Air Canada flights. ....

A physician, a paramedic, a nurse, and a nursing home resident are among the first in New Brunswick to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
A clinic opened Saturday after the province received its first 1,950 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine earlier in the week.
The very fist in line: 84-year-old Pauline Gauvin of Miramichi. She’s a resident at Shannex’s Losier Hall.
This is something I won’t forget, she said, after receiving the shot at the Miramichi Regional Hospital Saturday morning.

Nicolette Noel, a registered nurse in the intensive care unit of the Miramichi Regional Hospital. She is the first nurse in New Brunswick to get the vaccine. ....
