NEW BRUNSWICK - A 30-year-old city man has been charged in connection with a carjacking that occurred in the early morning hours on Thursday on Hamilton Street near Harvey Street, said New Brunswick Police Department Deputy Director J.T. Miller Sunday.
At 2:40 p.m. on Friday, detectives arrested Bryan Gomez in the area of Sandford Street and Comstock Street, Miller said. Gomez has been charged with carjacking, unlawful possession of a handgun, possession of a handgun for an unlawful purpose and terroristic threats.
Investigating detectives said that at 6 a.m. on Thursday, Gomez approached a parked vehicle occupied by an adult male victim, displayed a handgun and demanded the occupant exit the vehicle. Gomez took personal property belonging to the victim and then fled in the victim’s vehicle. ....
