Swindon Harriers’ Billy Dickinson won gold in the junior boys hammer throw event at the English Schools Track and Field Championships
SWINDON Harriers Athletics Club brought home three medals from last weekend’s English Schools’ Track and Field Championships in Manchester. While the country was wrapped up in England’s first men’s football final in 55 years, the County Ground Athletics track outfit saw six athletes head up to East Manchester Academy and Trafford AC to represent Swindon schools in a variety of events. Three of the half-dozen came away with medals, including Billy Dickinson who won gold in the junior boys hammer event. Billy threw an incredible 49.92m, with his winning throw over seven meters clear of the competitor in second place.
