The Twins have played the free agency game quite well in recent years as evidenced by their in season success. This offseason is already looking a bit different however, and it may take some aggressiveness to come out successfully on the other side.

2020 was the weirdest season of baseball we’ve ever seen and it’s led into what may be one of the weirder offseasons. So many questions remain including whether the NL will again adopt the DH and how many games will be played in the regular season. Unfortunately as players search for jobs and teams look to fill their openings, the uncertainties are clearly slowing the market. One change teams are expecting to see however is the expanded playoff format, and this expectation may be having early effects on the market that the Twins should keep an eye on. ....

This fourth spot came down to Damian Lillard or Steph Curry. If Curry is a 98 out of 100, then Lillard is a 95 or 96. However, Lillard has a better chance at making the playoffs this season as Portland s roster improved and got healthier this offseason whereas Curry s team s roster got worse with the loss of Klay Thompson. Curry s team will be fighting for a playoff spot, so it ll be difficult for him to garner much MVP buzz no matter how impressive his numbers are. On the other hand, Lillard will probably put up similar numbers and the Blazers could be contending for home-court advantage in the first round of the 2021 playoffs. MVP winners are almost always on one of the teams with the best record in the conference. Picking Video Game Dame over Chef Curry isn t a referendum on which player is better, it s simply a logical guess as to which team is going to be better in the regular season. ....

Detroit Lions' Kenny Golladay: Injury 'sucks,' prefers to stay here

He returned briefly to practice two weeks later, but was out again the next day and has not practiced or played since.
While some have speculated Golladay’s prolonged absence – he will miss his seventh straight game Sunday against the Tennessee Titans – is related to contract talks that stalled before general manager Bob Quinn was fired Nov. 28, both Golladay and interim coach Darrell Bevell said that is not the case.
“I can be clear that he’s not (sitting out for business reasons),” Bevell said. “The guy is competing, he’s working hard. The good thing for me is that I’m in here every day, I get to see what he’s doing. I get to see what he’s putting his body through to try to get back for us and for his teammates. He’s doing that. As you re about to see this season, championship swagger is a real thing. The role players like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Alex Caruso, Kyle Kuzma, etc. are going to play with a different kind of confidence than they previously possessed. LeBron James and Anthony Davis are going to play like they re the Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen of the NBA. That alone should always keep them in contention. But if that wasn t enough, the Lakers added some hungry players in their prime (Dennis Schröder, Montrezl Harrell) as well as some savvy veterans (Marc Gasol, Wes Matthews) that will keep their roster rejuvenated and fresh. Oh, and if the first few games of the preseason were any indication of what he might develop into, second-year guard Talen Horten-Tucker appears destined to be a stud. So long as LeBron and AD stay healthy, this team is going to mow over the rest of the league in 2020-21. ....
