Aboriginal council names two citizen members

The Brandon Urban Aboriginal Peoples Council (BUAPC), while in the process of finding a new community co-ordinator, welcomed two new citizen-at-large appointments earlier in the year.
Deborah Huntinghawk and Darlene Paquette joined the council though Huntinghawk rejoins after serving as the representative for the Brandon Friendship Centre.

For the first Brandon City Council meeting of 2021, plenty of municipal committees will have citizen members added.
Council will vote on appointing the following people to committees for a term starting Jan 1, 2021 and ending Dec. 31, 2022:
Western Manitoba Regional Library board:
• Matthew Berry and Wayne Kelly.
 
• Debbie Huntinghawk and Darlene Paquette.
 
 
• Connie Bok, Brock McEwing, Sajjad Rao and Danielle Waterfield.
 
• Matthew May, Gordon McRae and Sajjad Rao.
 
 
Apart from committee appointments, two presentations will be given.
Cancelled earlier in the year when COVID-19 restrictions forced Brandon City Council to hold meetings online via Microsoft Teams, Jane Neil will finally give her presentation titled Where are the women? on the history of Brandon a ....
