NRC, youth organization at odds over sound policy

Wicked Local
The PowerPuff flag football game on the Hunnewell track and field was not the traditional pre-Thanksgiving clash between Needham and Wellesley senior women. The pandemic  ended, but on June 7, the Wellesley High School players took to the field on their own Needham couldn t field a team and played a not-to-be-forgotten game.
There was only one problem: the Wellesley Natural Resources Commission, which oversees the field, has a no-amplified-music policy and there was music playing. Joe Roberts, director of the nonprofit youth sports group Community Investors,  applied in May to the NRC board on the part of the organization to have a sound system for the game, but the request was denied. ....

Despite COVID, business is booming at Big Ass Salads

Despite COVID, business is booming at Big Ass Salads
Brandon Schmidt doesn’t think of Big Ass Salads as a restaurant. “I consider us a salad manufacturer,” he said.
Open since September 2017, the mostly carryout business, at 4030 Lincoln Way E in Perry Township, sells between 250 and 300 salads on any given day.
“We had to buy industrial lettuce choppers. We’ll go through four cases of romaine on a daily basis,” co-owner Schmidt, 34, said. “It’s crazy.”
COVID-19, which caused B.A.S. to close for a month last spring, has not hurt business. “After we reopened (on April 29, 2020), it was like nothing had ever happened,” Schmidt said. “We were busier than we’d ever been, and it hasn’t stopped.” ....
