UNESCO enhances the expertise of management and leadership across TVET institutions in the Arab States

The UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States organized and led the “UNESCO ToT Leadership Project”, which was implemented by the partner Al Fayhaa Association, to strengthen the TVET systems in the Arab states. Between November 2020 and April 2021, the program has trained forty-five mid and senior-level TVET managers, as well as leaders from eleven countries in the region (namely Jordan, UAE, Algeria, KSA, Sudan, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, Qatar, Libya, and Mauritania), in contemporary management. It also provided them with teaching knowledge and practices, in order to assist institutions in delivering quality education and training, and increase the resilience and proactivity of vocational centers in the Arab Region. ....

UNESCO promotes entrepreneurship education in TVET and solutions in the context of COVID-19

The COVID-19 Pandemic has triggered one of the worst job crises, raising the great danger of increasing poverty and widening inequality. Rebuilding a better and more resilient labor market is increasingly important for the future. Entrepreneurship Education (EPE) is always considered one of the main domains in planning to develop and advance the national economy. Over and beyond the pandemic, the opportunities offered by entrepreneurship in boosting employment cannot be ignored.
To better enhance and promote Entrepreneurship Education in TVET systems and institutions widely in the Arab region, the Training of Trainers of Entrepreneurship Education in Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) and Solutions in the Context of COVID-19 and Beyond was conducted from May 30 to Jun 17, 2021 (ten-day training sessions and two-day coaching sessions). The UNESCO Regional Bureau for Education in the Arab States held on June 9, 2021, the Arab Regional Technical Meeting on Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) for 2030 as a virtual event, building on the UNESCO World Conference on ESD held on 17-19 May 2021. This regional event welcomed more than 370 participants from the region and all over the world. Experts from UNESCO and the Ban Ki-Moon Center, governmental officials from Lebanon, Jordan, Oman and Syria, and youth representatives from Organisation De Developpement Durable (ODDD) brought up informative and insightful discussions on leveraging ESD for the 2030 framework in the Arab Region.
The meeting, moderated by Mona Zoghbi from UNESCO, provided a timely platform for participants to discuss region-specific needs and approaches for ESD for 2030; and for representatives of Ministries of Education or of the National Commissions of UNESCO in the countries of Lebanon, Oman, Jordan and Syria to introduce their ....

UNESCO invites teachers in Latin America and Caribbean to participate in survey on their work during pandemic
What have been the main challenges faced by teachers during the COVID-19 pandemic? What methodological and curricular adjustments have they made? What are their medium-term projections in the midst of uncertainty? These are some of the main questions that UNESCO seeks to highlight through the survey that this specialized agency of the United Nations is inviting teachers in Latin America and the Caribbean to complete.
UNESCO is working to ensure that the results of this exercise are useful for decision-making at local, national and regional levels. Based on the results, UNESCO’s Regional Strategy for Teachers will be re-designed to promote relevant and timely support and training programmes for education workers. ....
