Dankwardt Park pool closes for season pending investigation

Burlington, IA- The city of Burlington has closed the Dankwardt Park pool early this season. City officials said in a news release Friday that The county health department has completed an inspection at the pool following an incident that occurred at the pool on August 4, 2021. Through the inspection and conversations with the health department staff, the City has chosen to voluntarily close the pool for the remainder of the season to focus on updating and improving communications, policies, and procedures. The incident that occurred at the pool on August 4th was an alleged near-drowning during a city day camp. The pool was investigated by county environmental subcontractor Regional Utility Service Systems on Friday. ....
