MVRPC aims to form group with Shelby, Darke and Preble counties

SIDNEY – The Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission is courting Shelby County to join what it hopes will be Ohio’s newest Regional Transportation Planning Organization.
Brian O. Martin, executive director of the Miami Valley Regional Planning Commission, and Ana Ramirez, director of transportation planning and funding, met with the Shelby County commissioners Tuesday morning to pitch their idea of forming a Regional Transportation Planning Organization with Shelby, Darke and Preble counties.
“I think it will better connect our region,” Martin said to the commissioners. “It would certainly bring you all in as a player on our MVRPC board of directors.” ....

The Short-Line Railroad Improvement Program provides funds to short-line railroad infrastructure projects “intended to improve freight mobility, volume thresholds and support modern rail freight traffic and the communities and industries they serve throughout California.” (BNSF)
The California Transportation Commission (CTC) will distribute $6.45 million to seven short line railroad infrastructure projects.
The projects are funded through the 2020 Short-Line Railroad Improvement Program (SLRIP), which was established under California’s Short-Line Infrastructure Improvement Act of 2019. SLRIP provides funds to infrastructure projects intended to “improve freight mobility [and] volume thresholds, and support modern rail freight traffic and the communities and industries they serve th ....

The Ohio Valley Regional Development Commission (OVRDC) is holding annual county caucus reorganization meetings for Highland County on Wednesday, Feb. 3 at 10:30 a.m. via an online Zoom meeting.

OVRDC Executive Director John Hemmings will conduct the county caucus meetings. Major items on the agenda of this meeting, which is open to the public, include to review and revise caucus membership, to select executive committee members, and to select a project review committee member. Other subjects covered in the meeting include discussion of the Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and Economic Development Administration (EDA) project development, project eligibility, and program changes; and the status of the OVRDC’s various other economic and community development efforts. ....
