University of the Ozarks has received a $5.3 million gift from the Walton Family Charitable Support Foundation for its new science center project.
The gift will go toward the current $18.6 million renovation and addition to the Thomas and Frances Wilson Science Center, the single largest capital construction project in University history. Construction began on the facility in January and is expected to be completed for the beginning of classes in January 2022.
“This project will meet the demands of record student enrollments, improve aging classrooms and laboratories, enhance community partnerships through technology and research, and advance the career opportunities of graduates in our area while keeping student costs down,” said University President Richard Dunsworth, J.D. “The Wilson Science Center will enable students from varying economic and edu ....

University of the Ozarks announced Wednesday that it has raised more than $73 million in gifts and commitments in its seven-year Climb Higher: A Campaign for Students, shattering the campaign’s initial goal of $55 million.
The most ambitious and successful fund-raising campaign in the University’s 185-year history concludes this week. As of Wednesday, the campaign had raised a total of $73,178,976 for student scholarships, academic programs and campus facilities.
The University community is celebrating the successful close of the campaign this week with the release of a series of celebratory videos and announcements as well as events for the campus and alumni. ....

Construction began this week on the University of the Ozarks’ new $18.1 million science center, the largest single capital construction project in University history.
The Thomas and Frances Wilson Science Center is expected to be completed by next January, in time for the Spring 2022 Semester.
The project includes a complete renovation of the current 29,000-square-foot facility, which was built in 1969, as well as an 18,000-square-foot addition on the west side of the current building.
University of the Ozarks President Richard Dunsworth helped kick off the construction phase of the project on Monday during a brief building demo ceremony. Dunsworth operated a trackhoe and began the demolition of the guest cottages on the west side of the science center. ....
