Hospitals asked to prepare for dengue, malaria patients | Ranchi News

Jamshedpur: Fearing a possible outbreak of vector-borne diseases during the monsoon season, the district health department has written to all the major hospitals and healthcare centres in East Singhbhum, asking them to keep all the necessary facilities ready for treating patients diagnosed with dengue, chikungunya, brain fever, malaria and diarrhoea.
“Rainfall and the resultant fluctuations in temperature lead to an outbreak of vector- borne diseases and that is why hospitals have been asked to keep all the necessary facilities ready. The hospitals have to share with us the data of people arriving with complaints of such diseases so that timely treatment can be provided to them,” additional chief medical officer Sahir Pall said. ....

Vax drive for seniors, people with comorbidities kicks off | Ranchi News

Ranchi/Jamshedpur: The registration and inoculation of more 37 lakh beneficiaries above the age of 60 and people with co-morbidities above 45 started across Jharkhand on Monday. As senior citizens flocked to vaccination centres, long queues were seen at various centres and some session sites also experienced technical glitches leading to a delay in the start of the drive.
Dr Ajit Prasad, state nodal officer for vaccination, said, “Any person who will reach the age of 60 on January 1, 2022, will be eligible for vaccination and can register themselves on the CoWIN 2.0 portal. The same goes for people suffering with co-morbidities and reaching 45 years of age. The beneficiaries can book a session through the portal or carry a specific set of documents and get themselves vaccinated at the site.” ....

East Singhbhum gets 221 plasma donors, 30% are from rural areas | Ranchi News

Jamshedpur: Efforts of the district administration bore fruit after East Singhbhum managed to get 221 plasma donors, of which 30% were from rural areas of the district.
“Due to our awareness campaigns, donors from rural hinterlands came forward to donate plasma in the last two to three months,” said deputy collector and district in-charge for plasma donation campaign Smita Nagesia.
She said FM radio channels have been quite effective in enlightening and encouraging those who recovered from the virus in the villages to come forward and donate. Nagasia added that banners and posters have been put up in public places such as bus stands and rural markets to encourage villagers for the plasma donation. ....
