BRIDGEPORT Firefighters responded to an “all hands working” fire at a barbershop on Madison Avenue Saturday afternoon, Emergency Management Director Scott Appleby said.
Multiple city fire units were called to the Turn’n Heads Barber Shop and Beauty Salon near Salem Street around 12:30 p.m. for a reported structure fire, Appleby said.
The arriving crew reported smoke showing from the roof of the building. Additional firefighters were summoned as a working fire was confirmed. ....

Officials are investigating after a fire at a barber shop on Madison Avenue in Bridgeport Saturday afternoon.
Crews said the fire was reported at Turning Heads Barbershop at 1180 Madison Ave. at approximately 12:30 p.m.

Man charged with sexually assaulting 9-year-old girl

BRIDGEPORT A local man was charged Wednesday with sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl in his home.
Orlando Morales, 35, of Alba Avenue, was charged with fourth-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child.
During Morales’ arraignment hearing Wednesday afternoon, Superior Court Judge Kevin Doyle ordered Morales held in lieu of $50,000 bond and continued the case to April 8.
The judge also ordered Morales to have no further contact with the child.
According to police, on July 7, 2020, the 9-year-old girl disclosed that she had been sexually assaulted by Morales.
During a forensic interview, police said the girl said she and her family had been visiting with Morales when she went to an upstairs bedroom to watch a movie on his television. ....
