Distell appoints master distiller for Scotch portfolio 10th May, 2021 by Nicola Carruthers Bunnahabhain owner Distell has named Brendan McCarron as master distiller for its portfolio of single malt and blended Scotch whiskies. Brendan McCarron joins Distell after working at The Glenmorangie Company With a career spanning 15 years in the industry, McCarron joins Distell from his role as head of maturing whisky stocks at The Glenmorangie Company. Prior to The Glenmorangie Company, McCarron worked at Diageo, where he managed the company’s Islay distilleries including Lagavulin and Caol Ila. In his new role at Distell, McCarron will oversee whisky production across the Bunnahabhain, Deanston and Tobermory distilleries, as well as the Scottish Leader and Black Bottle blends. ....
Brendan McCarron SCOTCH whisky distiller Distell has announced a new master distiller as it unveiled details of its forthcoming whisky festival, writes Scott Wright. Brendan McCarron has taken on the role for the distiller s single malt and blended Scotch portfolio, which includes brands such as Bunnahabhain, Black Bottle, Deanston and Scottish Leader. Distell acquired the portfolio with its £160 million purchase of East Kilbride-based Burn Stewart Distillers in 2013. Mr McCarron has joined Distell after a 15 years in the industry, which has involved several stints working for distilleries on Islay. His appointment comes as Bunnahabhain plans to release limited edition expresses for its virtual whisky festival in June. The Feis Ile, which is taking place online for a second time, will include two virtual tastings live from the Bunnahabhain distillery on June 4. ....
