Norwalk NAACP calls for action after teacher makes All Lives Matter post

NORWALK The local NAACP chapter is calling for action after a Norwalk Public School teacher shared an “All Lives Matter” meme on Facebook earlier this month, the group and school officials said.
The image showed two images of actor John Krasinski, playing Jim Halpert in “The Office,” pointing at a whiteboard, a common meme format.
In the top image, the whiteboard read, “Lives Matter.” In the second half of the image, the whiteboard reads, “If you need a color in front of those words, you’re a racist.” The teacher added an emoji of a shrugging woman with her arms raised to the image. ....

Norwalk NAACP set to vote on officers, with Sead challenging Penn-Williams

NORWALK, Conn. Norwalk NAACP members are expected to choose next month between challenger Jalin Sead and incumbent Brenda Penn-Williams in a delayed election for the local branch presidency.
Penn-Williams, who’s been president since 2016, said Wednesday that she doesn’t know why the national NAACP took over the local branch’s election, which is ordinarily held in November.
“Folks called to contest it,” she said.

“I first want to thank all of the members for sticking through this unusual process,” said Sead, who unsuccessfully took on Penn-Williams in 2016, when then-President Darnell Crosland stepped down. ....
