One of the most upsetting crimes last month came on the afternoon of Friday, June 4, when a mobility scooter user was robbed at knifepoint in a park.
The 56-year-old man was attacked near to the duck pond in Orford Park at around 4.15pm. ....

Medical team will run half marathon with a dummy on a stretcher for mental health charity

Some of the medical professionals from Warrington Hospital who will be taking part in the run this August
A dedicated team of frontline NHS staff will be running a half marathon around Warrington this summer carrying a stretcher with a full sized dummy and all the equipment needed to treat a cardiac arrest.
Around a dozen members paramedics and emergency medical technicians from Warrington Hospital will be running 13.5miles around the town’s parks as well as completing a lap of Warrington Wolves’ home ground The Halliwell Jones Stadium to raise money for mental health charity MIND.
The challenge will start at Warrington ambulance station at 9am on Sunday, August 1 and finish at Warrington Hospital’s accident and emergency department. ....

Birchwood Food Pantry Project thanks community for kind donations

THE Birchwood community has been pulling together to help support the Food Pantry Project.
Since April 2020, the three churches in the area have been delivering food parcels to vulnerable members of the community during the coronavirus pandemic.
Residents do not need a voucher or referral, but the project is only available to those who are in real need.
A spokesperson said: To be eligible to receive a food parcel you either need to be self-isolating because of age or health conditions and have no way of getting food, or you have had an unexpected change of financial circumstances. ....
