CLEVELAND — When Zahida Sherman found out she was pregnant, she was overwhelmed.
“There’s a lot of emotions that come with that news,” she said.
But after reading about infant mortality rates for Black babies in Ohio, one of those emotions was fear.
“My fears were how am I going to carry a healthy pregnancy with all of these barriers? and all of these issues just cards stacked against me,” she said. ....
