Just after 4 p.m., the call to the Bitumen Road fire went out. As area crews traveled along Route 120, they quickly encountered many rocks and even a couple of trees down between Drury’s Run and Westport, causing hazardous roadway conditions. This Citizens of South Renovo truck ended up off the road and traveled a long distance before striking a telephone pole. Several of the volunteer firemen needed to be taken to the Bucktail Medical Center to be evaluated. As other emergency trucks went around the accident and continued to the scene, they found the flue fire had become a house fire, causing Renovo Fire Department Chief Jim Risley to call a second alarm, prompting crews from Lock Haven area to assist with the fire and man the Renovo stations in case anything else should happen in the area.
