Just as it had vowed to do, the Philippines filed more diplomatic protests against the continued illegal presence of Chinese vessels in its waters, calling this a “blatant disregard” of China s commitments to regional peace and stability.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement on Friday, April 23, that it filed two more diplomatic protests on Wednesday, April 21.
“The Department of Foreign Affairs has lodged on 21 April two new diplomatic notes in protest of the continued deployment, lingering presence, and activities of Chinese vessels in Philippine maritime zones. The presence of these vessels blatantly infringe upon Philippine sovereignty, sovereign rights and jurisdiction,” it said. ....

Del Rosario: Duterte raising Hague ruling at UN proves asserting rights won’t spark war
Apr 20, 2021 6:44 PM PHT
Former foreign secretary Albert Del Rosario refuted President Rodrigo Duterte’s repeated claim that asserting the country’s rights in the West Philippine Sea would lead to war with China, pointing to the President’s move to raise the Hague Ruling at the United Nations as evidence.
Del Rosario made the statement on Tuesday, April 20, after Duterte repeated in a public address on Monday night, April 19, his old arguments against provoking China.
“As we have said before, neither war nor bloodshed is an option for the Philippines to assert its rights over the West Philippine Sea…. The President has already invoked the Arbitral Ruling that we won in The Hague at the 75th UNGA and the 37th ASEAN Summit last year. We do not see a war being waged by China against us,” Del Rosario said.  ....

The National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS) has slammed the continuous swarming of Chinese ships in the West Philippine Sea despite fair weather, calling it prejudicial to regional peace and security.
In a statement on Tuesday, April 13, the NTF-WPS noted that over a month after hundreds of Chinese vessels were first spotted near Julian Felipe (Whitsun) Reef, there are even more Chinese ships in the West Philippine Sea – navy warships, coast guard vessels, and ships manned by Chinese maritime militia (CMM) personnel, ....

Philippines summons Chinese envoy over lingering ships in West PH Sea
Apr 13, 2021 3:23 PM PHT
The Department of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, April 13, said Chinese Ambassador to the Philippines Huang Xilian had been summoned over the “illegal lingering presence” of Beijing’s ships in the West Philippine Sea
Huang, the DFA said, had been called in on Monday, April 12, where the Philippines expressed to him its “utmost displeasure” over the continuing presence of its ships around Julian Felipe Reef (Whitsun Reef) and other maritime zones in Philippine waters.
This is the first time Huang had been summoned after assuming his role as Beijing’s envoy to the Philippines in December 2019. It comes as tensions increased amid a renewed push by the Philippines to publicly challenge China’s aggressive behavior in the West Philippine Sea, the part of the South China Sea that belongs to Filipinos.  ....
