Success for The Vale Pantry in north Dorset despite Covid-19

A PANTRY that only opened three months ago is now feeding around 500 people every week.
The community has shown its support for the Sturminster Newton-based venture through donations of both food and money, with the latest online fundraiser exceeding £5,000.
This is a scheme however that needs regular donations to survive.
From young families to pensioners, The Vale Pantry has been busy supporting residents across the Blackmore Vale during the Covid-19 pandemic, including the two latest lockdowns, through discounted food shops.
After just a few months of success the team hopes to expand the pantry to Shaftesbury when an affordable or free premises is available. ....

Covid: where are the vaccination sites in Dorset?

MORE than 20 sites across Dorset are now delivering the Covid-19 vaccine.
The BIC started delivering the Oxford-AstraZeneca jab on Monday and will aim to vaccinate 9,000 a week at capacity.
It is the only large vaccination centre in the county, with the other centres made up of three hospital hubs and 17 GP-led services through primary care networks.
Patients will be contacted when it is their turn to be vaccinated when they will be able to book an appointment.
Retired postman and Parcelforce manager Brian Keeling, 85, of Wallisdown, received his first jab at the BIC on Monday.

New Forest GP group making progress with Covid vaccines

A MEDICAL partnership of GPs in the New Forest will have administered 4,000 coronavirus vaccination doses by tomorrow.
Patients from the surgeries that make up the Coastal Medical Partnership are receiving their first jabs from the New Milton Health Centre in Spencer Road.
This includes patients from the Arnewood, Barton, New Milton Health Centre and Webb-Peploe surgeries after the group of practices was named as one of the early adopting sites for vaccinations.
A further 1,000-plus vaccinations were also carried out in one day in north Dorset.
But the Dorset Clinical Commissioning Group has refused to reveal how many have been carried out across the county in total. ....
