Ecuadorans voted Sunday to choose between a young, socialist protege of ex-leader Rafael Correa and a veteran conservative as their new president, with the oil-rich country mired in an economic crisis aggravated by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Opinion polls had the two contenders neck and neck in the battle for control of the country of 17.4 million.
