FLINT TOWNSHIP - Flint Township Police Department has begun performing it’s Public Safety Pilot Program, which seeks to give more presence to law enforcement in the township’s Downtown Development Authority district.
Police in the DDA district will primarily have presence on Corunna Road, Miller Road, and Linden Road. The Public Safety Pilot Program was set to begin the weekend of April 17, but it got pushed back by a week.
“That’s what the main thing is, to get more visibility for patrol,” Flint Township Police Chief Kevin Salter told MLive-The Flint Journal. “For the businesses to have more law enforcement presence in the area where they do more of the business checks, like walking in, and walking out of the businesses to see how things are going with the businesses and making sure that they know that the public knows that we’re o ....

FLINT TWP., MI The black bear killed in traffic on Interstate 75 near Flint has officials at the Michigan Department of Natural Resources scratching their heads.
Sure, there are at least 15,000 bears and cubs in the state, but roughly 90 percent live in the Upper Peninsula, while the remaining 10 percent are mainly found in the northern Lower Peninsula.
“Generally they are not seen south of Clare County, (but) we do occasionally get young male bears looking for food or mating,” Holly Vaughn, public outreach and engagement manager for the DNR, told MLive-The Flint Journal. ....
