Fr. Joseph John Fix entered into eternal life on May 13, 2021, at the age of 79. He would want us to be happy that he is finally with the gentle God he has always told us about. Joe was born in Alpine Township, Kent County, Michigan on October 21, 1941, the firstborn son of Joseph and Delores (Kline) Fix.
He is survived by: his eight siblings, Robert Fix, Mary Weisenburger, Suzanne (Jack) Paas, Janet Thompson, Raymond (Alexandra) Fix, Delores (John) Olthoff, Jeanne (Robert) Enell and Gerard (Rilma) Fix; 22 nieces and nephews, numerous great-nieces and nephews, cousins; one aunt, Marian Kline; and many dear friends. ....

GRAND HAVEN, MI A retired priest who last served a Grand Haven parish has been defrocked over allegations of sexual abuse.
The Diocese of Grand Rapids announced the development Friday, May 7, barring William Langlois from any further ministering as a priest or celebrating the sacraments.
Langlois served as priest at St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven from 1996 to 2016, when he retired. ....

GRAND RAPIDS  A retired West Michigan priest has been removed from the priesthood, the Diocese of Grand Rapids says, after the church received allegations of sexual abuse that were deemed credible.
Pope Francis affirmed the dismissal of William Langlois. He served for years as pastor of St. Patrick-St. Anthony Parish in Grand Haven before retiring in 2016, reports WOOD-TV 8.
The allegations of abuse were reported to the diocese in 2018, it said in a Friday release. The abuse happened for seven years, from 1999-2006, the diocese said, starting when the victim was a minor and continuing into adulthood. ....

MUSKEGON, MI – A new drug and alcohol detox facility in Muskegon is expected to open next month.
Catholic Charities West Michigan held a ribbon cutting ceremony Friday, March 12 to celebrate the new facility in Muskegon.
Catholic Charities expects to serve 700 people each year out of the 14-bed center. Previously, the closest detox facilities to Muskegon were in Grand Rapids or Traverse City.
The Kolbe Center, 1713 7th St., will provide stays of three to five nights for people withdrawing from substance abuse, a process that can be dangerous and require medical supervision. ....
