Taunton's e-scooter trial extends to two villages and health care workers ride for free

IT took just 45 days for e-scooters in the Taunton trial to clock up the equivalent miles to travelling around the world.
If the rides had replaced car journeys, that would be the same as removing an estimated three tonnes of carbon from our atmosphere.
Since the trial launch in October, the scheme has registered more than 6,000 users, who have made a total of more than 15,000 rides so far.
The scooters had travelled 24,901 after 45 days and have since covered more than 30,000 miles overall.
The trial is now being extended to Bathpool and Monkton Heathfield. ....

MORE than 2,000 people took a ride on an e-scooter in Taunton in just one week.
The busiest seven-day period during the year-long trial in the county town was between November 15 and 22
Overall, there have been 4,910 journeys on the scooters since the trial went live on October 30.
Zipp Mobility has been renting out the vehicles as part of the initiative after the Department for Tranposrt gave the go-ahead to Somerset West and Taunton Council.
SWT s full council meeting on Tuesday heard that the e-scooters have travelled a total of 11,853 miles, with more than 4,000 users registered with Zipp.
The average length of journey between November 15 and 22 was 2.32 miles, with the average user spending just under half an hour with the vehicle. ....
