Fire destroys Bath Township mobile home
BATH TOWNSHIP Fire destroyed a mobile home in Bath Township on Saturday.
According to a news release, Bath Township Fire Department crews were called to 4890 Stewart Road at 12:33 p.m. Saturday.
When they arrived, they found the mobile home, owned by Troy and Lori Hooks, engulfed in smoke and flames.
The couple, their dog and an adult son got out safely although Lori Hooks was treated at the scene for minor burns.
Winds reaching 20 mph hindered firefighters in bringing the fire under control.
The damage is listed at $25,000 to the mobile home and another $10,000 for the contents. ....

LIMA A Lima couple suffered non-life-threatening injuries when their vehicle was struck by a semi Wednesday evening.
Troopers from the Lima post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol were dispatched shortly after 6 p.m. to the accident on U.S. 30 at Thayer Road. According to the report, a vehicle operated by David Burkhart, 59, of Lima, was southbound on Thayer Road and failed to yield at a stop sign. Burkhart’s vehicle was struck by an eastbound semi-tractor-trailer operated by Bryan Steininger, 33, of Plano, Illinois.
Burkhart suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported by Beaverdam EMS to Lima Memorial Health System, Lima. A passenger in the vehicle, 64-year-old Donna Burkhart, of Lima, suffered serious injuries and was transported by Cairo-Monroe Township Volunteer EMS to the Lima hospital. Burkhart was cited for failure to yield at a posted stop sign. ....

Area fire departments receive radio grants
COLUMBUS Several area fire departments will receive grants to upgrade their radio communications systems.
Statewide, 373 fire departments in 65 counties will receive the 2021 Multi-Agency Radio Communications Systems grants.
The MARCS radio system allows first responders to communicate not only with each other but other agencies including fire or law enforcement agencies.
The State Fire Marshal’s office received more than $9 million in requests for the $3 million in available funding.
Here’s how area counties fared:
In Allen County, the Beaverdam-Richland Fire Department, the Harrod Volunteer Fire Department and the American Township Fire Department each received $5,000. ....
