Four policemen on trial for extorting teenager

Four police officers in Lagos are facing an orderly room trial for harassing and extorting a teenager in Lagos, the state police spokesperson has said.
Olumuyiwa Adejobi, said in a statement on Friday, that the four police inspectors were arrested following the directive of Commissioner of Police.
The officers allegedly extorted N70, 000 from a 16-year-old student identified as Segun at the Isheri area of Lagos. They were caught on camera, which was circulated on social media, Mr Adejobi said.
The police spokesperson added that the officers confessed to the crime and refunded the sum to the teenager.
“The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four (4) police Inspectors that allegedly harassed and extorted 70,000 (seventy thousand naira only) from one 16 year old student, Segun, on 18th January, 202, at NGAB Junction, Isheri Area of Lagos State, in a Toyota Corolla car. ....

Lagos police nabs own officers caught on tap extorting student

Police in Lagos have arrested four police inspectors who allegedly harassed and extorted N70,000 from a teenager simply identied as Segun, on 18th January, 202, at NGAB Junction, Isheri Area of Lagos State, in a Toyota Corolla car.
The police Inspectors who have confessed to the alledged crimes are 223329 Inspr Emmanuel Michael; 146504 Inspr Subday Odubiyi; 256496 Inspr Lawrence Amedu, and 255043 Inspr Aroye Dickson.
This was revealed in a statement on Friday, referenced CZ: 5650/LA/PPRO/VOL.3/61 titled ‘ISHERI ALLEGED POLICE EXTORTION: LAGOS POLICE ARREST 4 COPS, COMMENCE Trial CP Odumosu Condemns Act,’ signed by the Lagos Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.

The Police Command in Lagos State says it has arrested four police officers who allegedly harassed and extorted N70,000 from a 16-year-old student on Wednesday at NGAB Junction, Isheri Area of Lagos State.
The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, Mr Hakeem Odumosu, stated this in a statement signed on Friday by the Command’s spokesman, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi.
“The pictures of the policemen caught in the acts of unprofessionalism and extortion, have gone viral on the social media.
“This attracted the Complaint Response Unit of the Nigeria Police Force, Force Headquarters Abuja, and decided to track the policemen for necessary police action. ....

Four Police Inspectors are currently being interrogated by the Lagos State Police command, following alleged harassment and extortion of the sum of N70,000 from a student.
The Police Inspectors are 223329 Emmanuel Michael, male, 40, 146504, Sunday Odubiyi, male, 40, 256496 Lawrence Amedu, male, 39, and 255043 Aroye Dickson, male, 40.
The 16 years old student, simply identified as Segun, had an incident a report with the Police on January 18, 2021, about the alleged harassment and extortion carried out at NGAB Junction, Isheri area of Lagos State.
Narrating his ordeal, Segun, said he was on his way to school when he was ‘abducted’ and driven around the state by the Policemen and finally taking to Isheri Divisional Police Station. He said, “my phone was seized by the Policemen after which they extorted N70,000 from me,” ....
