Sutton Council issue statement over SDEN claims Sutton Council have agreed to carry out an independent review of the Sutton Decentralised Energy Network (SDEN) following claims about its financial sustainability. The review comes after months of concerns raised over the quality of the council-owned energy supplier, which residents rely on to receive energy to their homes and businesses. The council said that SDEN was introduced in 2016, to combat the climate emergency and provide low carbon hot water and heating to homes at the New Mill Quarter development in Hackbridge. But over the past twelve months, residents at the New Mill Quarter have reported around twenty network fails which have left hundreds of them without heating and water. ....

Lacey-Rae Whittington winner of Barrat London s Easter competition TWO talented children in Sutton have won an Easter egg art competition. Rushy Meadows Primary Academy students, Briana Matei, 6, and Lacey-Rae Whittington, 9, have been announced as Barratt London’s Easter competition winners. To enter the competition, Barratt London asked children across London to take inspiration from its very own Hayes Village chocolate factory, which used to be the international home of Nestlé, and design their own Easter egg on paper. Almost 200 children entered the competition, a number of which were from Rushy Meadows Primary Academy, local to the housebuilder’s New Mill Quarter development in Wallington. ....

Residents of New Mill Quarter say they have been plagued with service issues since the first round of apartments became occupied. It is believed that in the last 12 months, council-owned energy company SDEN, has suffered over thirteen network fails, which leaves residents with electrical blackouts, and without water and heating. Elliot Colburn says the council snubbed an invitation to meet him and Hackbridge residents to discuss concerns on the estate, following multiple incidences involving the London Fire Brigade. ....
