LAFAYETTE, Ind.  Despite the cool morning weather, dozens of families and groups walked through the Columbian Park Zoo on opening day for the 2021 season.
As more improvements continue across the zoo and Columbian Park, the zoo has introduced a new entry fee: $2 per guest for all guests 3 years of age and older. Admission for children 2 years old and younger will remain free, according to a release from Lafayette Parks and Recreation. 
I think the community really appreciates that we have such a nice zoo. … It s just a good family environment, Neil Dale, zoo director, said. So I think people are understanding as to why we needed to go that direction. ....
