The Corpus Christi area will receive much-needed rain as a strong upper level disturbance over northern Mexico will move into Texas and bring showers and thunderstorms to the area, according to the National Weather Service in Corpus Christi.

The chance of rain continues into Saturday, with a high near 80 and a low around 69.
