ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. A grant of $32,441 has been awarded to Wings For LIFE International by New Mexico Workforce Connections to carry out a Workforce Innovation Opportunity Program pilot for 30 youth from Roswell, Carlsbad and Hobbs, according to a release from Wings executive director and founder Ann Edenfield Sweet.
The pilot program will run through June 20. Its goals are to help young people from age 16 to 24:
– Work to earn their high school diploma or GED.
– Receive important jobs skills training.
– Obtain living wage jobs in the area’s health care, tourism, dairy and other industries.
The Wings WIOA project strategy is based on proven national best practices models and incorporates the behavioral health care project components for disadvantaged youth recommended by the New Mexico Children Youth & Families Department. ....

Los Alamos National Laboratory (LANL) is teaming up with local nonprofits to distribute holiday gifts bought with record-breaking employee donations. Partners include organizations like Barrios Unidos, Gerard’s House, Help NM and New Mexico Children Youth and Families Department.
