NEW LEXINGTON - A New Lexington police officer was injured in the line of duty on March 7 while attempting to place a suspect under arrest.  According to the New Lexington Police Department, officers were initially dispatched to a three-car collision in the area of Ohio 13 and West Broadway at approximately 7:40 p.m.  In a media release, NLPD said officers determined a 23-year-old suspect, a New Lexington resident, had fled the scene of the accident, leading their investigation to the 200 block of Reading Street.  During the investigation, officers believed the suspect was under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.  Upon arrival, a patrol officer with NLPD attempted to place the suspect under arrest. The suspect resisted, resulting in a struggle between the 23-year-old and the officer.
