Senator Marc R. Pacheco (D-Taunton), Massachusetts,  announced that he will serve as chair of the newly created State Legislative Climate Alliance established by the Eastern Region of The Council of State Governments (CSG East).
The goal of the State Legislative Climate Alliance is to provide nonpartisan education, best practices, and innovative state policy solutions to help officials address the challenges posed by climate change. While housed in the North East, the alliance membership will be open to state legislators throughout all 50 U.S. states and U.S. territories.

New Hampshire business groups band together for Covid 'safe harbor'

In BIA-led effort, lawmakers urged to provide liability protections

Some 35 business organizations are behind a Business and Industry Association of New Hampshire effort to push state lawmakers and the governor to back Covid-19 liability protections for companies.
The effort comes before the language of the bill, to be introduced by Sen. Bob Giuda, R-Warren, has been finalized. But it would provide a safe harbor, meaning that a business couldn’t be sued as long as it is following guidelines, he said, but “bad actors” would not be protected.
“The wording will get some massaging,” Giuda told NH Business Review. “But the last thing businesses need now is a frivolous lawsuit that will cost someone 40 or 50 grand just to defend against it. Businesses are doing their part. The least we can do is provide them a safe harbor.” ....

UNH College of Life Science and Agriculture donates thousands of meals to food pantries

DURHAM – A University of New Hampshire College of Life Sciences and Agriculture food drive recently generated more than 12,500 meals at area food pantries after the college “came together while apart” to help reduce food insecurity. The effort is part of the college’s commitment to put belief into action by supporting the greater New Hampshire community, especially during this unprecedented time that has seen such grave economic impacts due to COVID-19.  
“As a college that seeks to advance the sustainability of communities and ecosystems, we study and inform healthy production of food and the nutritional needs of those across New Hampshire. It is important to us in the College of Life Sciences and Agriculture that we find a way to support those across the state who are unsure of where their next meal comes from.
