New Delhi, April 20 (IANS) Global energy-related carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions are on course to surge by 1.5 billion tonnes in 2021,the second-largest increase in history, reversing most of last year s decline caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, according to a new International Energy Agency (IEA) report released on Tuesday.

AB InBev replaces 18% electricity with solar power at Telangana Crown Brewery

To generate an average of 4,000 units per day
AB InBev in Telangana has made a shift to solar power, augmenting its adoption of greener electricity across its brewing operations.
The adoption of renewable electricity in its third brewery contributes towards AB InBev’s global commitment to secure 100 per cent of the company’s purchased electricity from renewable sources by 2025.
The world’s leading brewer’s facilities in Mysore and Aurangabad had earlier partially switched to renewable electricity. The project capacity for the solar panel installation at Crown brewery is DC 998 KWP, AC 773 KW, which will generate an average of 4,000 units per day. With an electricity requirement of about 22,000 units per day, AB InBev India will produce 18 per cent of the electricity through renewable sources. ....

Viking Energy sceptics raise concern over peat slides


ORGANISATIONS opposing the construction of the large Viking Energy wind farm in the centre of the Shetland mainland have warned to expect more peat slides after an area at the south of Scalla Field gave way on Sunday.
Diggers were seen all day yesterday (Sunday) trying to stabilise the area next to a new track across the hill.

At 281 metres in height, Scalla Field is earmarked to host eight turbines once construction work is completed by 2024.
Viking Energy’s Aaron Priest said some of the excavated turves being temporarily stored at the roadside for reinstatement work slipped down the slope for a short distance, taking some of the surface material immediately below with them. ....

Mercury NZ and infrastructure investor Powering Australian Renewables (PowAR) have lifted their offer for Tilt Renewables to $8.10 a share from $7.80 in response to a reported Canadian bid.
Separately, Tilt s majority shareholder Infratil said it supported the offer, which values its stake at $2 billion. ....
