Gold coins found in Pune| Over 200 historical gold coins worth Rs 1.3 crore found in Maharashtra's Pimpri-Chinchwad

A large historical treasure containing 216 gold coins and a broken bronze container worth more than Rs 1.3 crore was seized by the police in Maharashtra s Pimpri-Chinchwad.

Pimpri-Chinchwad: A large treasure of historical gold coins was found during digging work in Chikhli. A total of 216 gold coins were seized by Pimpri-Chinchwad police. A bronze
lota was also found.
The gold coins weigh 2,357 grams. We have also found a broken bronze container weighing 525 gram. The seized coins date from the period 1720 to 1750 AD. According to the Archaeological Department, the gold coins have the seal of ‘Raja Muhammad Shah’ with the name written in Urdu and Arabic, Commissioner of Police Krishna Prakash said in a press conference. ....

22 Gold Foil Embracing Figures Uncovered At Aska: Lovers, Gods or Giants?
A collection of rare ancient gold foil figures have been discovered at the archaeological site of Aska, approximately 36 kilometers (23 miles) from Sweden’s capital city,  Stockholm. In 2014 archaeologists announced that they had unearthed a huge feasting and drinking hall at the  Aska burial mound  which they believed was “probably ruled by a royal family” during the  Viking Age  (793 AD to 1066 AD). Now, nearly two dozen delicate gold foil figures have been discovered in the hall with engravings of couples embracing. The experts are trying to decipher if they are human, divine or “giant” in nature. ....
