3/25/2021, midnight Dr. Patricia Ramsey Contributed The CUNY Board of Trustees today voted to appoint Dr. Patricia Ramsey, an innovative educator with extensive experience as a leader at Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), as the sixth president of Medgar Evers College in Brooklyn. The CUNY senior college, a Predominantly Black Institution and an Emerging Hispanic-Serving Institution, was created in response to community advocacy in 1970 and named for the iconic civil rights leader slain seven years earlier. Dr. Ramsey, whose appointment is effective May 1, will be the first woman to serve as the president of Medgar Evers College. A biologist by training, she comes to CUNY from the Thurgood Marshall College Fund in Washington, D.C., where she spent the past year as a senior executive fellow. She previously served as provost and vice president for academic affairs at Lincoln University in Pennsylvania, the oldest degree granting ....
After a significant reorganization to the University of Kansasâ diversity and equity office and calls for more transparency regarding the decision, KUâs provost met with a small group of students within student government and varying university advocacy groups Friday.  KU Provost Barbara Bichelmeyer set up the meeting after months of students, staff and faculty asking for more information about a large change to KUâs now-named Office of Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging. Bichelmeyer said she wanted to listen to more concerns and provide clarification, but many inquiries still remained unaddressed. The provostâs office sent an invitation out Thursday afternoon to members of the Student Senate Diversity Equity, and Inclusion Committee and members of the Black Student Coalition naming the time and Zoom invitation. On Thursday evening, other students received invitations upon request to meet with Bichelmeyer Friday afternoon. ....

Updated at 11:55 a.m. Monday The University of Kansas Faculty Senate will have a discussion of no-confidence regarding the chancellor and provost in its meeting on Thursday, according to an email sent out by the president of the Faculty Senate. The matter was put on Thursday’s agenda after a motion from a faculty member and approval by simple majority vote at the previous Faculty Senate meeting, according to an email from Lua Kamal Yuille, the president of KU’s Faculty Senate. When asked why the Faculty Senate decided to put the discussion item on the agenda, Yuille said she was not comfortable making that determination because conversation at the meeting had been limited because of time. Yuille did, however, note that many faculty members were frustrated. ....
