Cancer Relief Gibraltar is marking Dying Matters this week, a Hospice UK-led initiative that helps open up the conversation on death, dying and bereavement.
As part of this awareness campaign, the charity is sharing testimonials from its members of staff and service users on the hospice service it offers. Today’s testimonial is Joe’s story.
Each day Chronicle readers have had the opportunity to learn more about the service and the services available when faced with a terminal illness.

NINE OF THE BEST: Pride of Somerset Youth Award winners revealed


THE achievements of nine remarkable young people have been recognised in the 2021 Pride of Somerset Youth Awards.
In an online ceremony released today, Somerset Day, BBC Radio Somerset’s breakfast programme presenter Claire Carter congratulated the winners.
Each young person has received a certificate and a gift voucher with support from the Rotary Club of Taunton, Somerset Day Community Interest Company, Avon and Somerset Police and Young Somerset.
Awards were made in eight categories.

Sophie Leith and
Gabrielle Harrison started a community newspaper which they delivered to residents of their village, West Buckland. Despite returning to school they continue to edit the publication and spend weekends delivering it to the appreciative readers. The nomination emphasized that Sophie and Gabrielle have not charged a penny for the paper but instead enjoy the positive impact their efforts have had on local residents. ....

Nine out of 10 of people have said they would like to be told if they were facing a terminal illness in response to a Dying Matters survey currently being carried out by Cancer Relief Gibraltar. The survey is being conducted as part of Dying Matters week ,which the charity is marking as from Monday.
